Premiers Div 3

Congratulations to Division 3 North on finishing  the season as Premiers.

After losing their first 3 games they went on to lose only one more game to finish 3rd on the ladder. In the Grand final they had to take on KooWeeRup who had finished the season as minor premiers.

Left to right Judy Woods, Tony Hitchman, Ian Shepherdley,Nola Oborne, Barry Woods, Lynette Taylor, Ian Farmer, Tony Spring, Sam Taylor, Michael Wensley, Bob Russo, Steve Garcia, Paul Murgia

After a slow start they worked their way back into the match to be just a few shots down at the break.

The second half was a tight tussle and with a handful of ends left to play Mount Martha forced their way to the front to go 2 shots up, only to see KooWeeRup retake the lead. On their 21st end Paul Murgia’s rink scored a 7 and with Tony Spring’s rink having finished tied on 18 shots a piece, Mount Martha were 5 shots up.  So it was left to Barry Woods rink to determine the result. However, the opposition skip set up the head with all their shots as back bowls and when he trailed the jack back KooWeeRup were holding 4 shots and a possible 5th that would have tied the match. But holding his nerve Barry drew 2nd. shot for Mount Martha to win the Grand final by 4  and bring home the Club’s 3rd Pennant of the season.

A great way to finish what had been a very tough season for all clubs
