60s & 70s Music Night – 26th April 2004.

A fun night at the club with over 70 people enjoying themselves dancing to the great music.

Mornington Peninsula Petanque Clubs Competition Presentation – 14th April 2024. Our club won the inaugural tournament which was held over 6 weeks and proved to be a most enjoyable competition between the local clubs

Nagambie Mixed Doubles Tournament – 14th April 2024.

A number of members made by the trip to Nagambie where we placed first and third in the competition.

Australian National Championships – 28th March – 1st April 2024.

The club had a number of members successfully competing in this tournament – 3rd in the Principale of the Womens 60+ Triples; 3rd in the Women’s 60+ Singles; 2nd in the Complementaire 60+ Mixed Doubles; 3rd in the Men’s 60+ Singles; 2nd in the Complementaire Men’s 60+ Doubles.

Jennifer Shaw Memorial 60+ Mixed Triples Tournament – 22nd March 2024.

Over 60 players from many different clubs took part in this annual competition in lovely weather. 

Another very successful and enjoyable day for everyone.

Australia Day celebrations – 26th January 2024.

After our usual Friday afternoon games we were off to the clubrooms for a great celebration with over 100 petanquers and bowlers attending. Hamburgers, pavlova, lamington cakes and a few beers were enjoyed during the evening.

Mixed Doubles Competition – 14th January, 2024.We held another successful tournament hosting 31 teams playing in our mixed doubles competition. The weather was great and all players enjoyed the day and our club’s great facilities.

Halloween Fun – 31st October, 2023.

Following on from a bbq and a couple of games we all got into the Halloween spirit and much fun was had in the clubrooms with the various costumes.

Mixed Doubles Competition – 24th September 2023. It was a lovely sunny day for the 32 teams from all over Victoria playing in our competition. They enjoyed lots of close games and our club’s hospitality at the prize presentation held in the clubrooms.

Bastille Day – 14th July 2023.

Our annual day continues to grow in popularity with players from other clubs, the Mornington U3A petanque group and the Mt. Martha bowlers who enjoyed the games followed by nibbles and drinks in the clubhouse.

South & Metro Region Challenge – 23rd April 2023

Our club hosted this year’s competition with 10 teams from five clubs playing for the Cup.  The level of competition was high with many close games in singles, doubles and triples formats.  We are gaining an excellent reputation for hosting competitions and great hospitality.

Evening Petanque – 12th April 2023

We are currently enjoying playing under lights on Tuesdays commencing at 5pm – at least until the wintry weather sets in! It’s a great experience and enables players who have commitments during the day a chance to come along and enjoy a couple of games. We welcome beginners and experienced players to join us.

Australian National Petanque Championships – 8th April 2023

Geoff Shaw, our club’s Vice-President, took out the gold medal in the Singles 2nd Division 60+ at the recent competition held in Adelaide.

Jennifer Shaw Memorial Competition (60+ triples) – 24th March 2023

Our annual competition attracted a large number of players from different clubs around Victoria.  It was a very successful day with good matches and then a get-together in the clubrooms at the end of the day.

Post-game activity –  13th March 2023

Besides having top class playing facilities we also have a great club house for social activities. On Friday nights after play we get together for a drink, enjoy a meal and have a fun evening.

Pop-Up-Petanque (PUP) – Fridays 6pm January & February 2023.

PUP is proving very popular with groups, families etc. all enjoying our free coaching along with supplied equipment for adults and children.  Even the Mornington Shire Mayor came along one evening!  Bookings are essential – refer to the flyer.

   

Bowls & Petanque Fun Day – 28th December 2022

The inaugural Fun Day was a great success with 10 triples teams of bowlers and petanquers playing.  We all came away with a greater understanding for the challenges and skills of each other’s sport.

Christmas Cheer – 23rd December 2022.

Following our last game before Christmas we adjourned to the club terrace to enjoy a drink and some impromptu carol singing.

Soiree Conviviale – 3rd December 2022.

Our end-of-year Soiree Conviviale was a great night with lots of laughs, music and good food.

Mixed Doubles Pétanque Tournament -Sunday 25th September
 
Another successful Tournament as Mt Martha hosted 27 pairs.
It was brilliant to see a few new & inexperienced club members enter their first tournament and, by all accounts play well. At the top end there were several higher ranked players and congratulations to the winners and the top two Mt Martha players, Ros & Geoff who finished in the prizes.

Australian Inter State Pétanque Championships.August 27/28 2022

What a coup for the Club, that Mt Martha was chosen to host the Australian Inter State Pétanque Championships.

 
It was a full on weekend from practising & a welcome meal on Friday to two long days of competition.  The event was opened by Mayor, Anthony Marsh who then stayed and enjoyed watching the early matches.
 
Mt Martha had dual member Jen Cuthbert playing for the victorious Victoria team, beating five other States in the Over 60s section. Plus Victoria finished a creditable second to South Australia in the Open. Geoff Shaw & Ros Allen were also in action in the ACT Team & Peter Cuthbert was the Coach for a PFA Team, making four of our members involved. Well done to them all!

Annual Bastille Day Social – 14th July 2022

A great day with 60 participants including players from the local U3A and other petanque clubs.  The catered lunch was delicious as was the French wine from the bar.  After lunch we all enjoyed the trivia quiz with Freddo frogs as the prizes!

 

Probus Group visit – 26th May 2022

We hosted a Pop-Up Petanque session for the Osborne Ladies Probus Group who enjoyed learning the basics of the game as well as a delicious morning tea we provided.

St. Andrews Beach Petanque Club visit – 20th May 2022.

Some 40 players from both clubs had a most enjoyable afternoon playing ‘out of the hat’ social games and then finished off the day with a BBQ & drinks at the clubhouse. We look forward to more of these events!

Sixty-six players from a number different clubs enjoyed five games of competition in blustery conditions.

Roast Dinner Night – 23rd March 2022.

Another great “monthly dinner” evening – roast lamb and chicken, vegies and beautiful deserts.  Lots of good food and fun was had.

Victorian State Doubles Championships – 6th March 2022

Our club members had a very successful day with Ros Allen and Medgee (Weird PC) placed 1st in the Women’s 60+ section; Sue Barron and Eileen (Dove PC) placed 2nd in the Women’s 60+ section, and Geoff Shaw and Tim (Grampians PC) placed 3rd in the Men’s 60+ section.

Skills development session – 1st March 2022.

Despite the ominous looking clouds we had a good turnout this afternoon for the Skills Development session with Sue. More sessions will be scheduled over the coming weeks.

Caulfield Park Open Triples tournament – 20th February 2022.

Fifty seven players (including 41 from 10 different clubs) enjoyed a great day and some tough competition.

Pop Up Petanque – 10th January 2022.

Despite the bad weather around 20 people of all ages come along and have a great time playing.  The kids loved having boules suitable for them to play with and they had a ball.

Big congratulations to Ros Allen who was second in the Women’s 60+ Singles competition at the Australian National Championships in Adelaide – she won 7 out of 8 games which is a fantastic achievement.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. David Morris MP (Member for Mornington); Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Despi O’Connor and Councillor Steve Holland (Briars Ward). The assistance from many of the Bowls and Petanque Club Members made the day a wonderful success.
